History:
Established in 1987, the Department of Education at Government Serchhip College began with its first lecturer, Mrs. Zothanzuali. She was later succeeded by Mrs. F. Lalengzauvi. Following her tenure, Mr. C. Tlanglungmuana led the department for many years. Sadly, he passed away in 2018. After his death, Mrs. F. Lalengzauvi was appointed as the Head of the Department, a position she continues to hold.

Uniqueness of the Department:
· Education encompasses holistic development. The Department offers students opportunities to acquire knowledge of teaching methods from foundational levels.
· Previously, the department collaborated with ASER, signing an MoU to conduct survey programs in numerous villages across Serchhip District. These initiatives aimed to provide insight into the education status at the grassroots level, benefiting the local community.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CLASS OF 2023 -2024 FIELD TRIP AT THENZAWL

A field trip to Thenzawl was organized by the Department of Education, Govt. Serchhip College.12 students out of a total of 23 from the Department, and the teacher-in-charge of the trip, Miss PC Vanlalruati departed from the college on the 4th June 2024, Monday.The group visited several significant sites in Thenzawl and returned to Serchhip on the next day (i.e 5th June, 2024 Tuesday) in the afternoon.
