INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR JOINTLY ORGANIZED BY THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS OF GOVERNMENT SERCHHIP COLLEGE

An international seminar was jointly organized by the Science Departments of Government Serchhip College on October 11, 2024. The distinguished keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Jonathan Lalsiamthara, PhD, a Research Scientist from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Lalremsiami Hrahsel, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany at Government Serchhip College. The program began at 10 AM IST in the 5G Laboratory of BCA, Government Serchhip College, with Dr. Jonathan delivering his talk virtually from Texas. He presented an insightful lecture on molecular biology, titled "Molecular Biology: An Overview." Science students attended the event and gained valuable knowledge, as Dr. Jonathan shared illustrative images and videos to enhance his talk. He also engaged with the students during an interactive Q&A session. The program was impactful, concluding with a vote of thanks by Dr. Laldingluaia Khiangte, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, GSC. Many students left feeling inspired, as Dr. Jonathan also included motivational words in his speech.

COMMEMORATION PROGRAM FOR M.S. SWAMINATHAN ORGANIZED BY DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

The Department of Botany at Government Serchhip College organized a commemoration program for M.S. Swaminathan on October 11, 2024. The event marked Swaminathan's death anniversary, originally observed on September 28. However, due to the overlap with students' internal and university practical exams, the program was delayed. The event was chaired by Jennifer Lalmuanawmi, 5th semester B.Sc. Botany and Lallawmkimi, also a 5th-semester B.Sc. Botany student, delivered an insightful presentation on the life and contributions of the Father of the Green Revolution. The program, attended by students and faculty of the Botany Department, concluded with a vote of thanks from Sir Tommy Lalmalsawma Colney, Assistant Professor in the department.

FEEDBACK ORIENTATION ORGANIZED BY FEEDBACK COMMITTEE

A feedback orientation session for students was held on October 11, 2024. To enhance clarity and understanding, students were grouped by their respective semesters. Dr. Lalremsiami Hrahsel, Chairman of Feedback Committee, and Dr. Lalhmangaihzela, Feedback Secretary, provided guidance on the process of giving feedback. Dr. Zela also emphasized the significance of constructive feedback and how it contributes to the improvement of the institution. As in previous semesters, students will provide feedback on their teachers for the current semester. This feedback will be analyzed, and each teacher will receive their respective feedback, which will be issued by the Principal.
