YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM: VISIT TO SHILLONG


Report on Youth Exchange Program: Visit to Shillong, Meghalaya

Government Serchhip College participated in the Youth Exchange Program, an initiative under MY Bharat and the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The delegation, consisting of 35 students and 2 faculty escorting officers, departed from Serchhip by Bus on 18th February 2026. 

From the moment of arrival, the participants were embraced with the legendary hospitality of Meghalaya. The organizing staff and volunteers welcomed the team with profound warmth, ensuring everyone was settled into comfortable lodging and provided with consistently delicious meals.

The true heart of the program was the selfless dedication of the volunteers. They worked tirelessly behind the scenes, offering a helping hand at every turn and addressing every query with patience and a smile. 

During the stay, the team engaged in several high-impact sessions with experts:

1. Healthy Life by Shri Dipankar Nandi
2. Communal Harmony and Unity by Shri D. Rapsang
3. Meghalaya's Culture &Youth Activities by Shri Bobby Wahlang
4. Career Guidance by Michael T. Mate
5. Life Skills Education by Smt. I. Warjri
6. Language Learning Session with the volunteer teams.

Beyong the classroom, the excursion to Don Bosco Museum (Asia's largest cultural heritage museum), Thangkharang Park, Mawsmai Cave and the Wei Sawdong Falls in Sohra really left the visiting teams in awe. 

The program also provided a vibrant stage for cultural exchange. The students proudly showcased Mizo heritage through traditional attire, folk dances and songs. 

The visit concluded with a heartfelt felicitation ceremony where each participant received a certificate and memento. 

The Mizoram team departed Shillong on 23rd February, 2026 at 2:00 PM, carrying with them deep gratitude for the outstanding arrangements and the extraordinary kindness shown by the organizers.
