Seminar in Observance of World Population Day 2025

A seminar in observance of World Population Day 2025 was held at Government Serchhip College on July 21, 2025 (Monday) at 1:30 PM in Room No. B201. The event was jointly organized by the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), National Health Mission (NHM), Serchhip District, the Campus Health Committee, and the Red Ribbon Club of GSC.

The resource person, Dr. Lalhruaikima from NHM, Serchhip District, delivered a speech highlighting that World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 to raise awareness about global population issues and the importance of reproductive health. This year’s theme was “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world.”

The key objectives of his talk were:

To raise awareness about issues related to adolescent and reproductive health

To educate youth on the effects of early marriage and teenage pregnancy

To discuss hygiene, peer pressure, and the risks of unprotected sex

Following this, Dr. Laldingluaia Khiangte, Programme Officer of the Red Ribbon Club, delivered a talk on the effects of HIV/AIDS on youth health, along with a discussion on current trends in Mizoram in comparison to the national level.

The programme concluded successfully with a vote of thanks.
