WORLD POETRY DAY OBSERVED BY DEPARTMENT OF MIZO

The Mizo Department organised a programme on the occasion of World Poetry Day on 20th March 2026. The celebration was marked by a Poetry Writing Competition held exclusively among the students of the Mizo Department. The main objective of the programme was to encourage students to develop their creative writing skills and to deepen their appreciation for poetry, especially within the context of Mizo literature and culture. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who actively engaged in composing original poems. The programme commenced with an introductory speech highlighting the importance of World Poetry Day and the role of poetry in expressing emotions, thoughts, and cultural identity. The best performers were to be selected and awarded prizes for their outstanding work. The programme concluded successfully with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organisers and all participants. Overall, the event was both inspiring and enriching, fostering a deeper interest in poetry.
