WORLD POETRY DAY OBSERVED BY DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

The Department of English, Govt. Serchhip College, observed World Poetry Day on 20th March 2026, centering on the theme “Poetry as a Bridge for Peace and Inclusion.” The programme foregrounded poetry’s capacity to cultivate empathy, dialogue, and cultural consonance.

Dr. Lalrinzuala and Dr. Marlyn Sailo served as resource persons, offering incisive reflections on the ethical and aesthetic dimensions of poetry as a unifying discourse. Their inputs underscored poetry’s role in negotiating difference and fostering inclusive sensibilities.

The session was further enriched by a reading from Aldrin (4th Semester), who presented his original composition with notable poise and imaginative depth.

The observance concluded on a reflective note, reaffirming the enduring relevance of poetry as both an art form and a humane force in contemporary society.
