On 4th February 2026, a seminar on Cancer Awareness was successfully organised at Government Serchhip College in observance of World Cancer Day. The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Zoology and the NSS Unit, Government Serchhip College, with the objective of creating awareness about cancer, its causes, prevention, and early detection.

The seminar was chaired by Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, Government Serchhip College. The resource person, Dr. Mary Zosangzuali, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, delivered an informative and insightful lecture on various aspects of cancer, including its types, risk factors, symptoms, preventive measures, and the importance of early diagnosis. Her presentation helped the participants gain a better understanding of the disease and emphasized the role of awareness in cancer prevention.

The programme witnessed active participation from NSS volunteers and faculty members. A total of 25 participants attended the seminar, which included 5 male and 17 female NSS volunteers, along with three Programme Officers. The session was interactive, and participants showed keen interest in the topic discussed.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. S. Beihrosa, Head of the Department of Zoology and Programme Officer, NSS Unit, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, the organisers, and all participants for their cooperation and active involvement.
