WORKSHOP ON ENVIRONMENTAL FILM MAKING

On 16th March 2026, a Workshop on Environmental Film Making, Short Green Film Making, and “Shoot Your Campus” was successfully organized at Government Serchhip College. The programme was jointly conducted by the Eco-Club, Photography Club, Wildlife Protection Club, NSS Unit of Government Serchhip College, in collaboration with the Mizoram Pollution Control Board.

The workshop aimed to raise environmental awareness among students and encourage them to creatively document environmental issues and conservation efforts through film and photography. It also sought to develop basic skills in environmental storytelling, visual documentation, and responsible media creation.

The programme was chaired by Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka, Programme Officer, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of using film and visual media as powerful tools for environmental education, awareness, and advocacy. He encouraged students to actively participate and use their creativity to promote environmental conservation.

The workshop was conducted in two sessions. The first session consisted of a theoretical class, where the Resource Person, Mr. Malsawmtluanga introduced the concept of environmental film making, explained the basics of short green films, and discussed important techniques such as framing, storytelling, camera angles, and capturing environmental themes effectively. The session also emphasized the role of youth in promoting environmental protection through creative media.

The second session was a practical class, during which the participants were divided into groups and guided to shoot short environmental clips within the college campus under the theme “Shoot Your Campus.” Students actively engaged in filming different aspects of the campus environment, focusing on greenery, biodiversity, waste management practices, and the beauty of nature within the college premises. The practical session provided hands-on experience in filming, visual composition, and teamwork.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 120 students and volunteers, including 70 males and 50 females. In addition, three Programme Officers and the club in-charges actively assisted in coordinating and guiding the activities throughout the programme.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rebecca Lalmuanpuii, In-charge of the Photography Club, who expressed sincere appreciation to the resource person, collaborating organizations, programme officers, club coordinators, and all the participants for their active involvement and contribution to the success of the workshop. She also emphasized the importance of continuing such initiatives to promote environmental awareness and creative learning among students.

The workshop was highly informative and interactive, providing participants with valuable knowledge and practical experience in environmental film making while strengthening their commitment to environmental conservation.
