SEMINAR ON UNDERSTANDING DRUG ABUSE AND ITS IMPACT


An Inaugural One Day Seminar on “Understanding Drug Abuse and Its Impact” was jointly organized by the Drug Awareness Club and NSS Unit, Government Serchhip College, on 22 January 2026 at Block B–201. The programme was sponsored by Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), Serchhip District. A total of 69 students (32 boys and 37 girls) and 7 teachers participated in the programme.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Lalrosanga, Teacher In-charge, Drug Awareness Club, GSC, and the Resource Person was Dr. Laldinpuia. The first session commenced with a welcome address by the Chairman, who emphasized the need for awareness among youth to prevent drug abuse. This was followed by an informative lecture by the Resource Person, who discussed the nature of drugs, reasons for drug use, harmful effects on health, and the challenges of overcoming addiction. He concluded by strongly advising students to refrain from drug use and to safeguard their future. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka.

The second session was held at the Academic Ground, where a Pledge Ceremony was conducted by H Thangkhanhau, Teacher In-charge, Drug Awareness Club. All participants pledged to stay away from drugs and spread awareness on drug abuse. The programme concluded successfully thereafter.
