SEMINAR ON NEW CRIMINAL LAWS

A seminar on New Criminal Laws was organized by the Legal Awareness Club of Govt. Serchhip College, in collaboration with the Police Department of Serchhip District, on 21st January 2026 (Wednesday) at 1:30 PM in Room No. B-202. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the recent changes and reforms in criminal law and their implications for society.

The seminar witnessed the active participation of students and faculty members. The resource person, R. Lalbiakzuala, CO, from the Police Department of Serchhip District, delivered an informative session explaining the key features of the new criminal laws of India—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS); Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS); and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA)—their significance, and how they aim to strengthen justice delivery and public safety. The speaker highlighted important legal provisions, procedural changes, and the role of citizens in upholding the rule of law.

The programme helped enhance legal awareness among students and encouraged them to become more informed and responsible citizens.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource person and the organizers for their valuable contribution. The programme was successful in achieving its objectives.
