SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL BAT APPRECIATION DAY - APRIL 17, 2025

On the occasion of International Bat Appreciation Day, a seminar was organized by the Department of Zoology, Government Serchhip College, on April 17, 2025. The event took place in Block C, Room No. 103.

The seminar featured Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka, Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, as the resource person. He delivered an insightful lecture on the topic: "Ecological and Economic Importance of Bats (Order: Chiroptera)."

During his presentation, Dr. Vanlalnghaka emphasized the vital roles bats play in sustaining ecological balance. He highlighted their contributions to various ecosystems, including pollination of plants, seed dispersal, and natural pest control. These functions not only support biodiversity but also benefit agriculture and forestry, underlining the economic significance of bats. The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the often-overlooked importance of bats and promote their conservation as key components of healthy ecosystems.
