SEMINAR ON GENDER DYNAMICS IN MIZO CULTURE: RETROSPECT AND CHALLENGES IN OBSERVANCE OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

The International Women's Day programme, held on 10th March, 2025 at Government Serchhip College, was a resounding success, jointly organized by the Women's Cell, GSC and Women & Child Development, Serchhip.

The programme commenced at 2:20 pm in Block B 201, under the chairmanship of Lalthannguri, Member, Women Cell, GSC, and featured a presentation by Dr. Lalnunpuii Ralte, Assistant Professor, GSC, who presented a comprehensive analysis of the complexities of gender dynamics in Mizo culture, highlighting the historical context, contemporary challenges, and the imperative for collaborative efforts towards achieving gender equity and harmonious coexistence, as exemplified by her citation of a  case study illustrating the socio-economic hurdles faced by women in the community.

Lalvensanga, DHEW, Serchhip, WDC, delivered a motivational speech, emphasizing the importance of women's empowerment and encouraging the audience to strive for excellence. The Chairperson led the pledge, reaffirming the institution's commitment to promoting women's rights and empowerment. Jeanie Lalthanpari Poonte, Chairperson, Women's Cell, GSC, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organisers, speakers, guests, and participants.

The event was attended by 114 students, Women Cell members, teachers, and DHEW representatives. The programme was a testament to GSC's commitment to promoting women's empowerment and fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
