SEMINAR ON FIRE RISK MANAGEMENT AND MITIGATION ORGANISED AT GOVERNMENT SERCHHIP COLLEGE

The seminar on Fire Risk Management and Mitigation, held on 7th February,  2024  at Government Serchhip College, commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka, NSS Programme Officer. The resource persons for the seminar were representatives from the Fire Station, comprising Mr. Laldinsanga, Leading Fire Fighter &  two Fire Fighters, Mr.Laltanliana and Mr. P.C. Lalduhkima . These experts brought with them a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience in fire management and mitigation.

Mr. Laldinsanga delivered a comprehensive presentation that shed light on the fundamental elements of fire, emphasizing the crucial role of the "fire triangle" in fire management and extinguishing. He elaborated on the significance of removing any one of the three elements – fuel, oxygen, and heat – to prevent fire outbreaks. Furthermore, Mr. Laltanliana & P.C. Lalduhkima discussed various safety procedures, including the proper usage and handling techniques of fire extinguishers. The Fire Fighters demonstrated the effective deployment of fire extinguishers, highlighting their importance in mitigating fire risks.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Lalawmpuia, Leader of the Youth Adventure Club, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, organizers, and participants. The event was attended by 53 students, comprising 30 females and 23 males, as well as representatives from the Youth Adventure Club and NSS Programme Officers. 

The event was a collaborative effort by the NSS Unit, Youth Adventure Club, and Disaster Management Cell, GSC.
