SEMINAR OBSERVING INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE


A seminar was successfully organized in observance of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 12th February 2026 at 2:20 PM in Room B-202, Academic Block, Government Serchhip College.

The programme was jointly organized by the Women Development Cell (WDC) and the Department of Chemistry, Government Serchhip College, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and the DPO Office, WCD Serchhip.


The theme of the seminar was “From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap.” The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of women’s participation in science and technology and to create awareness about gender equality in STEM fields.
The Resource Person, Lalthlamuani Rokhum, District Programme Officer (DPO), Women and Child Development (WCD), Serchhip, delivered an insightful and motivating talk. She emphasized the challenges faced by women and girls in science, the need for equal opportunities, and the role of education in empowering women. She also encouraged students, especially girls, to pursue careers in science and technology with confidence.
The seminar witnessed active participation from students and faculty members. An interactive session followed the lecture, where participants shared their views and asked questions related to gender equality and opportunities in STEM.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizers and the valuable contribution of the resource person. Overall, the seminar was informative, inspiring, and successful in achieving its objectives.
