REPORT IN THE 12TH MIZORAM STATE ANTI-TOBACCO DAY 2025 AND LAUNCHING OF TOBACCO-FREE YOUTH CAMPAIGN 3.0

The 12th Mizoram State Anti-Tobacco Day 2025, along with the launching of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0, was organized by the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) in collaboration with the Drug Awareness Club on 31st October 2025 at Government Serchhip College, Block B, under the theme “Tobacco-Free Lifestyle.”

The Chief Guest of the programme was Mr. Lalrinzuala, Addl. DC, and it was chaired by Dr. Lalrosanga, Assistant Professor and In-charge of the Drug Awareness Club, GSC.

The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Lalrosanga. This was followed by a presentation of the NTCP report by Mr. Lalrempuia, Social Worker, NTCP, in which he explained the objectives of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0 and shared the progress achieved from January to September 2025.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Lalrinzuala, then delivered a keynote speech and officially launched the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0. In his address, he emphasized the importance of discipline, positive peer influence, and a healthy environment. Clarifying the concept of freedom, he stated that being free does not mean doing whatever one wishes. He cited 1 Corinthians 6:12: “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful.” He further noted that being born poor is not one’s fault, but dying poor is—encouraging students to work hard and live responsibly.

The theme speech was presented by Dr. Lallawmkimi Chhakchhuak, DNO, NTCP, who reminded the audience that tobacco is a harmful poison. Following this, Ms. Maria V. L. Neihhlui, Counsellor, NTCP, led the “Say No to Tobacco” pledge, which was recited collectively by the attendees.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Lalramnghaka Kawlni, DEO, NTCP. After the formal session, the participants enjoyed special refreshments.
