ONE WEEK LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMME HELD AT GSC

Government Serchhip College, jointly through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and National Service Scheme (NSS), organised a One-Week Leadership Training Programme from 24 to 28 August 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Block C. The programme brought together Student Union leaders, Club leaders and NCC leaders for a series of interactive sessions on different aspects of effective leadership.

The programme began on 24 August with Dr Lalramdintluanga, BDO, Serchhip RD Block, as the resource person and Dr Rebecca Lalmuanpuii as facilitator. Dr Lalramdintluanga spoke on different leadership qualities, drawing extensively from his own personal and professional experiences. His session provided students with practical insights into responsibility, decision-making, discipline, confidence and the challenges of leadership.

On 25 August, Mr Lalrinmawia Sohnel of Bethlehem Veng, facilitated by Dr K Lalrinchhana, shared his views on the responsibilities of a good student leader. He emphasised that student leaders should look beyond their own college or organisation and remain attentive to the needs and concerns of students across Serchhip District, highlighting the importance of responsible representation and service.

The programme continued on 27 August with two sessions. Mr David LF of D&C Coaching, facilitated by Mrs Jeanie Lalthanpari Poonte, spoke on communication skills and life skills of a good leader. He emphasised effective communication, active listening, confidence, interpersonal skills and the ability to deal constructively with challenges.
The second session continued with Dr Vanlalsiama Chhangte, Medical Director, Ebenezer Medical Center, serving as the Resource Person and Mrs H Lalrinfeli as facilitator. Using a prepared slide presentation, Dr Siama addressed the theme of integrity in leadership, highlighting honesty, accountability, ethical conduct and responsibility as essential qualities of a trustworthy leader.

The programme concluded on 28 August with a practical student-led session facilitated by Dr Lalremsiami Hrahsel. Student Union leaders, Club leaders and NCC leaders delivered three-minute speeches on the topic, “A Leader I Admire Most and Why”. The presentations provided the participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their communication and public-speaking skills while reflecting on the leadership qualities they admire.
The student leaders also shared their overall feedback on the training programme, expressing appreciation for the resource persons, facilitators and organisers. They particularly valued the diverse perspectives and practical experiences shared throughout the week.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr C. Vanlalnghaka, NSS Programme Officer, marking the successful completion of the One-Week Leadership Training Programme.
