LEGAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

The Legal Literacy Club of Government Serchhip College, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, successfully organised a Legal Awareness Programme on 18th July 2025 at 12:00 noon in Room No. B201. The programme aimed to educate students about two important laws: the ND&PS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act).

The session was chaired by Lalrinawma, Leader of the Legal Literacy Club. The programme began with a warm welcome, followed by a detailed and engaging session delivered by Advocate Lalrinhlua, who was the invited resource person. He spoke on the harmful effects of drug use, the seriousness of drug-related offences under the ND&PS Act, and the importance of the POCSO Act in protecting children from sexual abuse.

The presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where students actively raised questions and shared their thoughts. The session proved to be highly informative and eye-opening, especially for the fifth semester students who attended as part of the legal training initiative.

A token of appreciation was presented to the resource person by Ms. Lalmalsawmi, Teacher-in-Charge of the Legal Literacy Club, as a gesture of gratitude. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vanlalawmpuii, Club Secretary, expressing appreciation to the guest, faculty members, and students for their support and participation.

The event was a success, fulfilling its goal of spreading legal awareness among young students and encouraging them to be responsible, law-abiding citizens.
