INVITED LECTURE PROGRAMME IN OBSERVANCE OF WORLD TRANSLATION DAY

In observance of World Translation Day, the Departments of English and Mizo, and Literature Club, Govt. Serchhip College organized an Invited Lecture Programme on 1st October 2025 on the topic ‘Bringing Worlds Together: Translation and Culture’. The invited speaker, Prof. Margaret L. Pachuau, a renowned translator and Professor of English and Culture Studies at Mizoram University, delivered a lecture conveying the ethical responsibilities of translation and the importance of translation in bridging cultures- sharing case studies and drawing from her extensive experience. The lecture was followed by an interactive session where students posed questions regarding the varied interpretation of Mizo folklore and the challenges in navigating linguistic nuances. The enthusiastic participation from faculty and students reflected a growing interest in translation studies and successfully commemorated World Translation Day.
