On 9th March 2026 (Monday), International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the NSS Unit and Women Cell of Government Serchhip College in collaboration with My Bharat Serchhip District and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Serchhip. The programme was held at the Sports Complex, Hmar Veng, Serchhip.
The celebration aimed to recognize the achievements of women, promote gender equality, and encourage women’s participation in physical and community activities. To mark the occasion, various sports competitions and recreational activities were organized for women participants from different age groups.
The sports events included 100 metre, 200 metre, and 400 metre races, along with tug of war and several fun and fitness activities. The competitions were conducted according to age categories to ensure fair participation and to motivate women of different age groups to actively take part. The activities created a lively and supportive atmosphere, fostering unity, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the participants.
A total of 60 NSS volunteers participated in the programme, accompanied by two NSS Programme Officers. The event was also supported by officers and staff from My Bharat Serchhip District and SAI Serchhip, who assisted in organizing and supervising the activities. In total, 68 participants, including volunteers, programme officers, and officials, were involved in the event. The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the various competitions.
Earlier in the day, a pledge reading ceremony was conducted at the Government Serchhip College campus.
