GSC STUDENTS REPRESENT MIZORAM AT THE BORDER AREA YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM HELD AT DHARMANAGAR, TRIPURA

had the honor of representing Mizoram at the Border Area Youth Exchange Programme 2024-25, organized by MYBHARAT (NYK) North Tripura. Held from March 3rd to 7th, 2025, at the Hitasadhini Cooperative Marketing Society Ltd. premises in Dharmanagar, the event aimed to promote cultural exchange, national integration, and skill development. Participants from Bihar, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura took part in a diverse range of activities, including yoga sessions, interactive discussions, and cultural performances, fostering cross-cultural learning and mutual understanding.
Throughout the five-day programme, participants engaged in educational and awareness sessions conducted by expert resource persons. Key discussions focused on communication skills, team building, women’s empowerment, national integrity, and critical social issues. Field visits to Unakoti, a historical site, and the Yeakubnagar BSF Camp provided valuable insights into heritage and defense operations.
Government Serchhip College students made a significant impact by securing the 3rd prize in the Know India Quiz, a proud achievement for the institution. They also showcased Mizo cultural dances such as Sarlamkai, Cheraw, and Chheih Lam, teaching these traditional performances to participants from other states. Additionally, the delegation joined in the early celebration of Holi, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Traditional attire and cultural expressions were shared among participants, allowing them to experience and appreciate the unique heritage of different states. Students actively engaged in showcasing their traditional clothing while also learning about the diverse styles and customs of others. This exchange was further enriched through collaborative cultural performances, where participants not only presented their own art forms but also embraced and performed those of their peers, fostering deeper cultural understanding and unity. As a memento of their participation, GSC students distributed 5 College Annual magazines to the four other states and the event organizers.
