GSC STUDENT PARTICIPATED IN THE KNOW YOUR LEADER PROGRAMME HELD AT THE PARLIAMENT HOUSE, NEW DELHI

The college takes immense pride in its student Vanlalmawipuii, IV Semester BA for participating in the “Know Your Leader” programme held at the Parliament House on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April 2026. The event was organized by Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies in collaboration with the Lok Sabha Secretariat. Conducted at the historic Samvidhan Sadan, the programme commemorated the 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar and aimed to inspire youth by highlighting values of democracy, leadership, and social justice. The college is proud to share Mawipuii's experience—here’s what she has to say:
The “Know Your Leader” program was organized at the Parliament House to honour Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, one of the most influential leaders in Indian history. The program aimed to create awareness among students about leadership, governance, and the contributions of great national figures. It was made possible through the efforts and dedication of My Bharat Mizoram, whose commitment provided me with this valuable opportunity.
The event began with a formal welcome, followed by an introduction to the significance of the program. The speakers, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s life as a courageous journey of struggle and achievement, emphasizing his role as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and his dedication to equality, justice, and social reform.
During the session, emphasis was laid on understanding the roles and responsibilities of leaders. The speakers discussed key leadership qualities such as integrity, responsibility, and commitment to public service. The programme also featured selected youth representatives from across the country, making it a truly enriching national platform. An interactive segment further helped participants gain deeper insights into leadership and governance.
Following the session, we were taken on a guided tour of the Parliament House, which provided a practical understanding of parliamentary proceedings. We visited different sections of the building and learned about the law-making process and the functioning of the government.
The program was both informative and inspiring, as it combined theoretical knowledge with real-life exposure. It significantly enhanced my understanding of leadership and encouraged me to become a more responsible and active citizen.
In conclusion, the “Know Your Leader” program served as a meaningful platform to honour Dr. Ambedkar while educating young minds about leadership and civic responsibility. It also reflected the unwavering dedication of My Bharat Mizoram in creating impactful learning opportunities for youth.
