FINISHING SCHOOL DAY 1


The Entrepreneurship Knowledge Cell (EKC) and IQAC, Government Serchhip College in collaboration with the Women & Child Development Department, DHEW Serchhip, successfully organized a Finishing School Workshop from 27th to 30th May 2025 at Government Serchhip College. The four-day program was specially curated to equip outgoing students with essential life, professional, and vocational skills for their future careers.

DAY 1: 27th May 2025
The inaugural session was opened by the Principal, Mr. C. Laldintluanga, who warmly welcomed the participants and expressed sincere gratitude to the resource persons and organizers for making the event possible. He also reminded the students of how fortunate they were to be part of such a program and urged them to take full advantage of the opportunity to enhance their personal and professional development.

The first session of the workshop was centered on motivating students and emphasizing the importance of personality development and communication skills as they prepare to transition into the professional world.

The workshop commenced with an inspiring motivational session delivered by Mr. Lalthlamuana, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Pachhunga University College. His engaging talk emphasized the importance of self-motivation, goal-setting, and the power of consistent effort. He also encouraged students to cultivate the habit of reading, highlighting it as a key to personal growth and lifelong learning.

Following his address, Mr. K. Lalrinchhana, Assistant Professor, Department of History, GSC, shared a thoughtful reflection on Mr. Lalthlamuana’s message, appreciating its relevance and depth. As a gesture of appreciation, Mrs. Malsawmsangi Varte, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, presented a token of gratitude to Mr. Lalthlamuana on behalf of the college.

After a short tea break, the second session commenced with an engaging and insightful talk by Mr. Lalhruaitluanga Chawngte, a renowned journalist and author. He spoke on the vital topic of "Life Skills", delivering a powerful and encouraging message on the essential abilities needed to navigate personal and professional life effectively.

The session was followed by a thoughtful reflection from Dr. Zarzosanga, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, who highlighted the practical relevance of Mr. Chawngte’s message. He appreciated the speaker’s ability to connect with the students and shed light on the real-life application of life skills beyond the classroom. As a gesture of appreciation, Ms. Zairemmawii, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, presented a small token of gratitude to Mr. Hruaitea for his valuable contribution to the workshop.

Third session: Soft Skills Training
The day concluded with an interactive session on soft skills led by Mr. David LF from D & C Coaching. The session emphasized interpersonal communication, body language, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and how these contribute to workplace success.
