FINAL DAY OF WEEK LONG DEBATE COMPETITION


The final day of the debate competition organised by the Electoral Literacy Club on the topic "Politics and religion can coexist"  took place in Room 202 of Block B and commenced at 2:00 PM on 23rd August 2024. The previous rounds were held on 16th and 20th of August. The finalist teams were Team 1 and Team 6, each consisting of four members. Team 1 (Opposition) included Maria Zomuanpuii, Lallawmkima, Vanlalengfiaha, and Lalruatpuia, while Team 6 (Proposition) comprised Lalfakzuali, Lawmsangzuala, Rosetina Lalruatsangi, and Samuel Hmingthanzuala.

Both the first speaker and the first opposer were allotted 5 minutes, while the remaining speakers and opposers were given 4 minutes each. After intense exchanges between both teams, the judges concluded that Team 1 emerged victorious. The final rankings were as follows:
First Place: Team 1
Second Place: Team 6
Third Place: Team 2

The winners received their rewards from the honorable principal: Team 1 was awarded Rs. 2000 and certificates, Team 6 received Rs. 1000, and Team 2 was given Rs. 500. Additionally, a consolation prize was provided to all participants. Lawmsangzuala and Maria Zomuanpuii were recognized as the Best Speaker and Best Opposer, respectively, and each was rewarded with Rs. 1000.

The competition was moderated by Sir Sangtea and judged by Sir Peka, Sir Liantea, Sir Zela, and Sir Dinpuia, who were also acknowledged with a reward for their contributions. The event was well-attended by students who enthusiastically supported and cheered for their respective teams. The competition concluded at 3:40 PM.
