ETHICS DAY OBSERVED BY LITERATURE CLUB AND DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

On 6th September 2024, the Department of English and Literature Club observed the 2nd GSC Ethics Day by conducting a seminar with a special focus on "The Transmission of Ethics Through Literary Accounts." The event, held at Room A-203 during the CCA period, provided a platform for attendees to reflect on how literature has shaped their ethical perspectives and values. Faculty from the Department of English- Lalmalsawmi, and Lalnunthari Sailo co-chaired the event with Dr. Marlyn Lalnunmawii Sailo delivering the keynote speech. The speech highlighted how literature stimulates the moral imagination by presenting diverse ethical dilemmas and character decisions. Following the keynote speech, attendees shared personal experiences and insights on how literature has influenced their ethical beliefs and behaviors, with texts mentioned ranging from The Divine Comedy to Everyman as sources that have instilled a sense of empathy and justice and shaped their awareness of political ethics and personal freedoms.
