The Drug Awareness Club, Govt. Serchhip College, organised a Drug Awareness Campaign on 28 August 2026 at 2:20 PM at Block B-202. The programme was chaired by Dr. Jonathan Lalnunsiama, IQAC Co-ordinator and was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging them to make healthy and responsible choices.
The programme was attended by all 1st Semester students and Club members of the college.
The resource persons Inspector John Malsawmtluanga, OC and ASI Michael Lalremdanga both from Police Station Serchhip, highlighted the dangers associated with drug abuse and its adverse effects on an individual's physical health, mental well-being, education, family and society. They also discussed the importance of staying away from drugs, making informed decisions and seeking appropriate support when faced with situations involving substance abuse. The students were encouraged to remain alert and responsible and to contribute towards creating a safe and drug-free campus.
The campaign also emphasised the message “Say NO to Drugs, Say YES to Life” and encouraged students to choose a healthy, happy and purposeful life. The importance of peer support and collective responsibility in preventing drug abuse among young people was also stressed.
The programme provided an important platform for students to interact with members of the Police Department and gain practical awareness regarding drug-related issues. The active participation of the students made the campaign meaningful and informative.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment among the students to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy, informed and drug-free campus environment.
