COMMUNITY CLEANLINESS DRIVE BY NSS UNIT GSC

The NSS Unit of Government Serchhip College (GSC) organised a Community Cleanliness Drive on 11th September 2026 at Khawtetlang Field as part of its commitment to promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and community participation.

During the programme, NSS volunteers actively participated in cleaning the field and its surrounding areas. The volunteers collected plastic waste, wrappers, bottles, and other litter scattered around the premises. Special attention was given to the removal of plastic materials, which can adversely affect the environment and pose a threat to the cleanliness and usability of the public space.

The collected plastic waste was carefully gathered and segregated for proper disposal. Through this activity, the volunteers not only helped improve the cleanliness and appearance of Khawtetlang Field but also created awareness about the importance of reducing plastic pollution and maintaining clean public spaces.

The cleanliness drive provided NSS volunteers with an opportunity to put into practice the values of community service, environmental stewardship, teamwork, and social responsibility. The activity also reinforced the message that maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility and that small, consistent efforts by individuals and communities can contribute significantly to environmental protection.

The programme concluded with the volunteers ensuring that the cleaned areas were free from visible litter. The initiative was a meaningful effort by the NSS Unit of GSC towards fostering a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally conscious community.
