CLEANLINESS DRIVE BY NSS, GSC

On 16 July 2026, the NSS Unit, Government Serchhip College organized a Cleanliness Drive in the college campus with the objective of promoting environmental cleanliness, hygiene, and civic responsibility among students. The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment while encouraging the spirit of community service.

A total of 398 NSS volunteers actively participated in the drive, comprising 198 male and 200 female volunteers. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the four NSS Programme Officers, and members of the college faculty also joined the activity, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and setting an example for the students.

The volunteers were divided into different groups and assigned various locations within the college campus. They cleaned classrooms, pathways, gardens, drains, playgrounds, and other common areas by collecting litter, removing weeds, and disposing of waste in an environmentally responsible manner. The activity significantly improved the cleanliness and appearance of the campus while fostering teamwork, discipline, and a sense of ownership among the participants.

The Programme Officers emphasized that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and encouraged the volunteers to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit rather than a one-time activity. The drive also reinforced the values of the Swachh Bharat Mission and highlighted the role of youth in building a cleaner and healthier society.

The programme concluded successfully with appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of the volunteers, faculty members, and NSS Programme Officers. The Cleanliness Drive served as a meaningful initiative in promoting environmental awareness, social responsibility, and the NSS motto, "Not Me But You."
