AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE


Awareness programme on Sexual Harassment and Domestic Violence was successfully organised on 14th October 2025 at 2:30 PM in Room No. 202B of Government Serchhip College. The programme was a collaborative effort by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Serchhip District, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, and the Legal Literacy Club of the college.
The event was chaired by Ms. F. Lalengzauvi, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the ICC. It was attended by the 1st Semester students and aimed to raise awareness on critical issues that affect safety and dignity, particularly in educational spaces.
Mr. Lalrinhlua, Advocate and External Member of the ICC, served as the Resource Person. In his address, he delivered a meaningful and insightful speech highlighting the importance of understanding sexual harassment and domestic violence, especially in the context of student life and institutional settings. He encouraged students to speak up and utilize available support systems.
Mr. Lalvensanga, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, also spoke during the programme. He shared relevant helpline numbers and explained how students can access support services easily when in need.
The session also included student interaction, followed by a prize distribution ceremony for the Slogan and Poster Making Competition organised by DHEW and the ICC. The winners were:
1st Prize: Kapremtluanga, V Semester, B.Sc., Roll No. 6 (Mathematics Dept., Photography Club)
2nd Prize: Ramnunsangi, III Semester, B.Sc., Roll No. 17 (Mathematics Dept., NCC Air Wing)
3rd Prize: K. Laldawngliani, I Semester, B.A., Roll No. 99 (Political Science Dept., Literature Club)
Consolation prizes were awarded to:
Rodingpuii, V Semester, B.A., Roll No. 74 (Political Science Dept., Art Club)
Lalruatpuii, III Semester, B.A., Roll No. 50 (English Dept., Literature Club)
Vanramnghaki, V Semester, B.A., Roll No. 5 (BCA., Drug Awareness Club)
Prizes included cash, specially designed tote bags, and mugs, all sponsored by DHEW.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Lalremruati, Assistant Professor and Secretary of the ICC, expressing gratitude to the participants, speakers, and organizers for making the event a success.
