Annual Sports Week Closing Function Report 2024

Government Serchhip College Annual Sports Week Closing Function was organized by the Students' Union, which took place on 25th October 2024 at the College Academic Ground.

The first session featured a prize distribution ceremony hosted by Indoor Sports Secretary Lalruatpuia and Outdoor Sports Secretary Vanlalchhuanawma. After the awards ceremony, Caroline V. L. Hruaitluangi from the Department of English hosted the Miss and Mister Ramp Walk, followed by a short lunch break.

The second session commenced at 3:40 pm, with Caroline V. L. Hruaitluangi as the host. The event opened with a welcome speech from Benjamin Lalhmangaihkima, Vice President of the Students' Union. Thlamuanpuii and Lalnunpuia, both from the 1st Semester, delivered a  duet performance. This was followed by prize distributions for Volleyball, Basketball, Tug of War, and Mixed Relay, as well as the Miss & Mister Traditional Round. The Phunchawng Cultural Club performed a traditional dance, and Vanlaltanpuii from the 1st Semester BA presented a song. The formal round of the Miss & Mister contest followed.

The Students' Union held a Felicitation program for Dr. Laldinpuia from the Department of Economics in recognition of his recently earned doctorate degree, a citation was presented by Vice President Benjamin Lalhmangaihkima. The GSC Dance Club then performed a Western dance, leading into the Miss & Mister Couple Round.

Vice President Benjamin Lalhmangaihkima announced the College Sports Week Overall Champions - the Black House declared as the College Annual Sports Week Overall Champions for the 2024-2025 session.

Rualthankhumi from the 5th Semester, Department of Geography (Blue House), was awarded the Best Girl medal, and Vanmalsawma from the 3rd Semester (Black House) received the Best Boy medal.

The final Miss & Mister Round concluded with the announcement of the winners.

Miss GSC 2024-2025: Lalremkimi, 3rd Semester BA, was crowned by outgoing Miss Lalghakliani, 3rd Semester.

Mister GSC 2024-2025: Malsawmtluanga, 3rd Semester BA, awarded by outgoing Mister Vanlalchhuanawma, 3rd Semester BA

Other awards included:

1st Runner-Up (Mister): Joseph Malsawmzuala, 1st Semester BA

2nd Runner-Up (Mister): Lalruatdik Ralte, 1st Semester BA

1st Runner-Up (Miss): Lalrodingi, 1st Semester BA

2nd Runner-Up (Miss): Nancy Lalruatkimi, 3rd Semester BA

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Vanlalengfiaha, Assistant General Secretary of the Students' Union, followed by a photo session, bringing College Week 2024 to a successful close.
