The 80th Independence Day of India was observed at the Serchhip Sports Complex on 15th August 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM. The programme was organised by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Serchhip, and invitations to the college faculty and community members were extended by Pu Paul L. Khuma, Deputy Commissioner, Serchhip. The event was graced by Pu Vanlalhlana, Hon’ble Minister, PWD, who attended as the Chief Guest, along with several other dignitaries and district officials.

Students and faculty members of Government Serchhip College took active part in the celebration. A significant achievement was recorded by the NCC Air Wing contingent, which secured Third Place in the Unarmed Contingent category of the March Past Parade, reflecting their discipline and teamwork.

The college was also represented with pride by Vanlalmawipuii (5th Semester B.A.) and Lalruattluanga (3rd Semester B.A.), who served as the event announcers. They carried out their duties with confidence, clarity, and smooth coordination, earning appreciation and bringing honour to the institution.

Faculty members of the college also attended the programme alongside various officials, dignitaries, and members of the public. The celebration offered a valuable opportunity for the college community to join the district in observing the nation’s 80th Independence Day with deep patriotism and pride.
