5G DEMONSTRATION SHOWCASED AT GOVT SERCHHIP COLLEGE, MIZORAM

Government Serchhip College hosted a public demonstration of practical 5G use cases under the project “Deepening of Scientific Research on 5G Use Cases for Solving Challenges of Society.” The initiative is funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC) under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), implemented by the North Eastern Regional Community Resource Management Society (NERCORMS), and carried out in collaboration with Amantya Technologies.

Students and innovators showcased prototypes and working solutions developed in the 5G Lab, one of the first of its kind in Mizoram. The lab has become a milestone for technology education in Serchhip, offering hands-on learning opportunities, product refinement, and practical innovation. Visitors witnessed live demonstrations and presentations showing how classroom concepts are being transformed into real-world prototypes.

The event was graced by Mr Paul L. Khuma, Deputy Commissioner, Serchhip District, Mizoram as the Chief Guest, along with C. Laldintluanga, Principal of Govt Serchhip College, and Dr. Jonathan Lalnunsiama, Assistant Professor of Physics and Nodal Officer of the 5G Project as Guests of Honour. Other invitees included representatives from government departments such as the Sub-Divisional Education Officer and the Dental Surgeon. The programme also saw participation from local educational institutions, including Government PCR High School, Government High School, and Marian High School, among others.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Sangeeta Boruah, Regional Lead Project Coordinator (5G), followed by keynote speeches from the Chief Guest and an Industry Speaker. The session concluded with live demonstrations of 5G-enabled applications designed by students, including:

Smart Room System

Smart Farming Solutions

Automatic Lighting using PIR Sensors

These student-led innovations highlighted practical solutions to address grassroots-level challenges in daily life.

The event was open to the public, students, researchers, and technology enthusiasts, fostering dialogue on how advanced connectivity can benefit society. The programme concluded successfully, with participation from over 210 students public.
