Hands-on Training on monitoring different water quality parameters i.e.,pH, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness etc. was conducted today at Serchhip District Water Testing Laboratory, PHED Watson Division: Serchhip using water samples collected from three different wells located in Serchhip area.Total of nine students from V semester, BSc attended this programme accompanied by Dr Lalchhingpuii ( Chemistry Dept) and Dr Lalhmingsangi ( Botany Dept). The students performed different tests under the instruction and guidance of Mr R Laltanpuia (Chemist)and they find it really interesting and enjoyable.
One Field Testing Kit and six boxes of Hi Water Testing Kit were given to Govt Serchhip College by PHED Watson Division, Serchhip to show their appreciation. The two teachers present there received these priceless gift with great pleasure.
This programme was organized by Serchhip District Water Testing Laboratory, PHED Watson Division, Serchhip and Department of Chemistry, Physics& Mathematics Govt.Serchhip College.

The Department of Botany, Government Serchhip College has been awarding Student of the Month which carries Certificate and cash incentives since 2020.

The main objectives of this award is to encourage the students to do their best in their studies and inspire them to actively participate in competitions.

Student of the Month for August are PC Malsawmzeli from First Semester and VL Hruaitluangi from Third Semester. They have scored highly in their class tests as well as participated in competitions during the month of August. Congratulations.

 

 

The Annual College Day was observed today at Academic Building Room No.3. In this programme hosted by Dr.K. Lalhmingsangi, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Botany, awards were given to outstanding students of our college.

The MCTA Award was awarded to students of each department, who passed the Undergraduate Degree Course in First Division and above and who scored the highest marks in their respective departments. The Award included a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- each.

The Principal’s Award for Academic Excellence was awarded to Judithi Lalchanpuii, VI Semester, Dept. of Zoology, who secured 8th rank in the Undergraduate Degree Course under Mizoram University. The Award included a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-

The Prestigious Govt. Serchhip College Student of the Year Award for the 2020-2021 Academic Session was awarded to Judithi Lalchanpuii, VI Semester, Dept. of Zoology. The Award included a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of Rs.5000/-. Awards were also given to the other top 3 candidates for the Student of the Year Award, namely, B. Lallawmawmi, Dept. of Geography and Lalhmingsangi, Dept. of History. The Award included a certificate and a cash prize.

Winner of the Finishing School Report Writing Competition, K. Lalvensanga, Dept. of Mizo was also awarded a certificate, book and a cash prize for securing first position in the aforesaid competition. Lalchhuanawmi Sailo, Dept. Of Botany was also awarded the 2nd postion and Vanlalrinnunga, Dept. Of Mizo the 3rd postion with cash prizes and certificates.

The Felicitation Programme was attended by the Principal, Mr. PC Lalremsiama, teaching faculty of the college and parents of the Award winners. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Mrs. K. Laldinpuii, Associate Professor, Dept. of History.

The Academic & Administrative Audit team, designated by Higher & Technical Dept, Govt. of Mizoram visited and audited the college on 11th August, 2021. The audit team members include Prof. Lalnuntluanga, GANC (Chairman), Prof. J. Zorema, Principal, Govt. J. Buana College, Lunglei and Dr. Lalbiakzuali, Govt. Hrangbana college, Aizawl.

The team was received by the Principal and staffs of the college and the audit went underway with a powerpoint presentation about the college by the Principal, Mr. P.C. Lalremsiama. This was followed by an audit of the institution by the team members and interaction with the Administrative Audit Committee members and IQAC Co-ordinators of the college. The team members were also taken on a brief campus tour by the Principal and staffs, after which the audit process concluded with an Exit Meeting programme.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Govt.Serchhip College and New Serchhip North Village Council on the 9th.August, 2021 at Principal’s Office Chamber.The duration of the MoU will remain for five years from the date of signing MoU.

Work Together On:

Role of Govt. Serchhip College

1. Work with the Village Council on the task of developing education witihin the New Serchhip North Area Village Council and take action as necessary.

2. Working conjointly, the Village Council and Govt. Serchhip College will maintain the cleanliness of the community of New Serchhip North Village Council Area.

3. Cooperate and work with the Village Council in conserving trees and animals within New Serchhip North Village Council Area.

Role of The Village Council

1. For better improvement, if needed, the Village Council will invite the Professors of the college to give awareness and sensitization programme in the field of education in the area of New Serchhip North Village Council.

2. Work together with the College and take action, so that New Serchhip North Village Council area (including College Campus) is free from drug dealers and addicts.

3. Cooperate and work with the College on the development of the College campus.

Our respected Principal, Mr.PC Lalremsiama , on behalf of the college and Mr.C Lalrotluanga, President, New Serchhip North Village Council and Mr Ramtharmawia,Secretary,New Serchhip North Village Council signed the MoU.The MoU signing ceremony was joined by Dr.C Vanlalnghaka, Asst.Professor, Mr.C Lalramliana, Asst.Professor and Mrs.Jennie Lalthanpari Poonte, Asst.Professor, GSC.

 

On August 5th, 2021 Swatchhta Pakhwada, 2021 was observed at Government Serchhip College. The program was jointly conducted by the NSS Unit, Eco Club and Swatch Bharat Sub Committee.
The observation program was chaired by Dr. Lalhmangaihzuali Ralte, NSS Programme Officer, GSC.Mr C.Lalramliana, NSS Programme Officer,GSC delivered a persuasive speech on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and the progress that the college had achieved in pursuing cleanliness. He also stressed on the concern of the college in plastic recycling and point out that it is the responsibility of everyone to do so. He also invited the students to be more actively involved in the College NSS activities.
Dr.Lalremsiami Hrahsel, Nodal Officer, Swatch Bharat,GSC, also delivered a speech on the importance of E- waste management and gives a report on the activities of the college Swatch Bharat.
Mr Laldinpuia Rokhum, Green Teacher, Eco Club, GSC also delivered a speech.He highlights the importance of eco system.Mr.H.Lalchhanhima ended the function by delivering vote of thanks.

On the initiatives undertaken by Eco Club, Govt. Serchhip College, 20 students along with 6 faculty members from various departments had an exposure visit to Greater Water Supply Scheme at Tuikum on 28th July,2021.

In the first session, Er Samuel L Ralte , Sr SDO , PHED gave a brief introduction about the various Water Treatment and explained the major works carried out in this area.

Mr Biakzamvela , JE , PHED had demonstrated and explained thoroughly all the processing units from the raw water till the clear water pump house.

The second session and Closing function of the exposure visit was held at Control Room, Khawtetlang , New Serchhip. The programme was chaired by Er Samuel L Ralte, Sr SDO ,PHED. The presence of Mr PC Lalremsiama, Principal , Govt. Serchhip College and Er F. Lalsanglura EE , PHED graced the ceremony.

 

28th July, 2021: The World Nature Conservation Day was observed today at 1pm in the Smart Classroom. It was organized by the Wildlife Protection Club, GSC & NSS Unit, GSC. The programme was chaired by Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka, i/c Wildlife Protection Club & Asst Professor. There were two Resource persons. Mrs. Lalmalsawmi, Asst Professor gave the first speech. She highlighted the main purpose, means and needs in conserving nature. Mr. Lalhmangaihzela, Asst Professor gave an enthusiastic speech about the misunderstanding we have between Nature and Human, and about the necessity of using our natural resources in the wise way. The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. C. Lalramliana, Asst Professor & PO NSS, GSC.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Govt.Serchhip College and New Serchhip Badminton Club, Serchhip on 19th.July, 2021 at Principal’s Office Chamber.The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will aim to achieve the objectives:-
1.To disseminate awarness and importance of mental and physical health through proper and regular exercise.
2.To identify and promote young talents in the game of Badminton and nurture them to become well – established players of the game.
