The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram Shri Zoramthanga will visit the College on 18th February, 2023 to lay Foundation Stone of the College Administrative Building.
CM Visit Programme
In commemoration of the 53rd NSS Foundation Day, NSS volunteers and members of ECO Club, Government Serchhip College carried out a drive for cleanliness at Serchhip Bazar and the neighbouring areas on 23.9 2022 (Friday). The additional motivation to organize the programme was to support the ‘Zero Waste Week’ organised by UD&PA Department.
Student volunteers were accompanied by Laldinpuia Rokhum, Green Teacher, ECO Club, H.Lalchhanhima, NSS PO, Dr.Lalhmangaihzuali Ralte, NSS PO, Malsawmtluangi, Asst.Professor and Dr.Lalhmangaihzuala, Asst.Professor, GSC.
National Youth Policy
The NSS Unit, NCC and Eco Club of Government Serchhip College observed Earth Day on 22nd April, 2022 in a short function held in the Academic classroom. Camping Laldingliana, a student of 6th Semester B.A, Green Leader, Eco-Club led the meeting. Dr Lalhmangaihzuali Ralte, the resource person delivered a speech on “Invest in our Planet,” a universal topic chosen for the Earth Day, 2022. She addressed the importance of protecting our planet earth, elaborating on the harmful effects of plastic usage, and the advantages of using renewable resources. She also discussed the duties that each of us can perform on the grounds of energy and fuel consumption for sustainability, encouraging the attendees to promote cycling and carpooling. She further expounded upon the issues of proper waste disposal and the advantages of having proper drainage system; explaining how every individual has a part to play in the process of bringing about a positive change.
Pu R. Lalrochama, PO NSS, Govt. Lunglei College also enlightened the participants on how Earth Day has been observed for over 50 years around the world, further accentuating on the issues of climate change and increasing pollutants. He motivated the students to know their place and be active participants in college activities, emphasizing on how our little actions can transform into a great deed collectively.
Pu C Lalramliana, PO NSS thanked Pu R Lalrochama for his valuable input and his participation in the function and continued briefly about the reason behind the celebration of Earth Day. The function ended with a vote of thanks from Huntharmawia, NCC Cadet, GSC.
The much-awaited NAAC ‘A’ Grade Accreditation received by the college was celebrated on the 14th of April, 2022 in the college campus. The Honourable Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Zoramthanga, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Chief Minister extended a heart-warming appreciation of the effort and dedication of the teaching and non-teaching staff to be able to attain such a high grade in the national-level assessment. He further stressed that the college has a huge potential and physical space for infrastructural development in the future as well. Adding to that, he emphasized on the importance of collective effort, reminding all employees that growth and positive change can ensue with a commitment of the heart and mind. He implored the students of the college to work with discipline and dedication in every walk of life. Great personalities of the past have achieved great deeds only after going through huge hardships, he said. He further encouraged the students to be of useful assets for their families, college and, most of all, for the community.
Pu TC Pachhunga, Vice Chairman, Sports & Tourism Development Board, Pu Lalduhawma, MLA, Serchhip Assembly Constituency, Pi Nazuk Kumar, DC, Serchhip District and Dr. Lalthansangi Fanai, Joint Director, Higher & Technical Education Department also addressed the meeting and extended their appreciation on the achievement of the college. Sub-Headquarters YMA, Serchhip and Serchhip Teachers’ Association presented citations honouring the accomplishment of the College.
Pu PC Lalremsiama, the Principal of the college conveyed his sincere appreciation of all the staff members of the college for their diligence in raising the standard of the college in achieving a CGPA of 3.18 overall. IQAC Co-ordinator, Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka, continued with a brief report covering the preparation and the events during the NAAC visit.
The College is extremely grateful to all the invitees and everyone involved in making the programme a grand success.
Govt. Serchhip College was humbled and grateful to receive Dr. Renu Sharma, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Mizoram on the 2nd of April, 2022. A short function was organised at the college Seminar Hall, chaired by the Principal, Pu P.C Lalremsiama. The programme was attended by the Staff and students of the College.
The principal gave a short report on the recent events and activities in the College; followed by a report on various initiatives and preparations done during the recent NAAC visit from Pi Jeannie Lalthanpari Poonte, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC. Dr. Renu Sharma then gave a speech and took the attendees on a journey back to the days when she was a student, stressing on how she was always fascinated by academics. She recalled how she entered Civil Service on the wishes of her father while she was pursuing M.Phil. She also recounted how she started her Ph.D after crossing the age of 50. She reminded students of how things were rather difficult during her time, encouraging them to take advantage of the resources and courses available now and to have conviction to do well. Her speech was nothing short of inspirational and truly a challenge for the young crowd.
Dr. Sharma’s speech was followed by a Vote of Thanks delivered by Pi K.Laldinpuii, Associate Professor. The Chief Secretary’s visit ended with a tour around the campus.

Govt. Serchhip College observed the National Girl Child Day, on the 24th January, 2022 in a function organized at the Smart Class-room, Academic Block, Govt. Serchhip College on the topic, “Empowering Girl Child in our Society.” This programme was chaired by Mr C. Lalramliana, Programme Officer, NSS, Govt. Serchhip College.
Mr P.C. Lalremsiama, Principal, Govt. Serchhip College, who was appointed as the Chief Guest of the programme delivered a speech stressing on how the Government pays attention to protecting the rights and roles of women in society. He elaborated on how women have shown resilience in fulfilling their duties, and have proved themselves successful in various fields despite the many challenges they have to overcome. He highlighted how, in contrast, a lot of men have lately become incompetent to be husbands or simply in accomplishing their basic responsibilities in family and society.
The Resource Person of the programme, Mrs F Lalengzauvi, Chairman of Women Cell, Govt Serchhip College also delivered a poignant speech on ‘Empowering Girl Child in our Society’. In this regard, she highlighted the scheme of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, a campaign launched in 2015 by the Government of India that aims to generate awareness and improve the education of girls and their general welfare. She also stressed on the different roles and participation of women in Mizo society and how noticeable changes could be seen regarding the upliftment of women in society.
On the occasion of the National Girl Child Day 2022, Govt Serchhip College honoured five female students, who are achievers in their respective fields. The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks, delivered by Dr. C. Vanlalnghaka.
Peer Team members from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), comprising of Dr. Alexander Jesudasan, Chairman, Dr. Chandrikalayam Naseema, Coordinator and Dr. Nazir Ahmad Simnani, member visited the college during 29th-30th December, 2021.
On the first day of the visit, the peer team members had a fruitful interaction with the Principal, IQAC Co-Ordinators, all Heads of Departments, Students, Alumni, Parents and Non-Teaching Staffs. The day was theh concluded with a vibrant cultural programme. On the second day of inspection, the peer team members inspected various academic and administrative establishments, sports infrastructures, hostels and botanical gardens etc. They also extensively scrutinized various documents of the institution. The peer team visit was then wrapped up with an Exit Meeting, in which the peer team members gave insightful feedbacks about the institution as a whole.
