Govt.Serchhip College Staff Welfare Committee organized a farewell function for Mr.RL Chhuanawma Associate Professor & Head, Department of History on the 31st of August, 2020 at the Lecturer’s common room. Mr C.Laldintluanga Associate Professor & Head of Department in Economics presided the function and Ms. Lalnunthari Sailo, Assistant Professor of the Department of English headed over the devotion. Mr.PC Lalremsiama, the Principal of the institution delivered a farewell speech. Dr. K. Lalhmingsangi handed a farewell gift to Mr. R.L. Chhuanawma on behalf of the staff welfare committee. Dr. Lalchhingpuii organised a brief overview of Mr.RL Chhuanawma’s academic profile using a slide show.

Mr. R.L. Chhuanawma joined the college on the 17th of Febuary, 1987 and his service to the college is 33 years in total. He concluded his tenure through a superannuation retirement. Since his joining in the department of History, he served the institution in various capacities, such as being the sports incharge and the Head of Department. His 33 years of service ended on the 31st of August, 2020. To this educator extraordinaire, we wish him a happy retirement and a new beginning in life.

Government Serchhip College conducted a webinar on National Education Policy, 2020 on 28th.August.2020.We are extremely fortunate to have Prof C Lalremruata, Governmet J Thankima College and Pu Laltanpuia, Additional State Project Director, RUSA as resource persons in this webinar. The two resource persons shared with us their valuable thoughts and perspectives on National Education Policy, 2020. While Prof C Lalremruata clarified a comprehensive framework of NEP, 2020 for elementary education, Mr Laltanpuia concerned himself with the aim of the policy in transforming higher education in India. Their fruitful discussion and deliberation had truly made the webinar dynamic and productive, thereby giving us a better insight regarding the National Education Policy, 2020. We are very much thankful to our esteemed resource persons for sparing time with us from their busy schedule and student participants in making the webinar a grand success. We do hope that all the participants gained as much as organizers had expected them to do so.

As per the schedule laid down by Language and Communicative Skills Committee, a discussion programme on “How to improve speaking and writing skills in English” through Zoom Cloud Meetings was organised for the students on 24th August, 2020. The programme was started at 8pm with a notable speech from Mr. K. Lalrinchhana, the host of the programme. Five speakers from the faculty viz. Mrs. Vanlalliani, Dr. Zarzosanga, Mrs. Jeanie Lalthanpari Poonte, Mr. Vanlalsanga and Miss Lalnunthari Sailo delivered cordial interactions on the topic. These speakers stressed on the importance of practice, adopting a good reading culture, how to think in English, and also encouraged the students to watch English movies.
